Cash/Money Dance

The Cash Dance or Money Dance is a fun way for guests to show their love and support by "paying" to dance with the bride and/or groom...whatever denomination the guest feels is appropriate.  The money donated by guests can be great for a little extra "honeymoon cash" or to go towards the bride and groom's first grocery bill...which is usually a big shocker!

I recommend a mix of slow songs for this dance (which I will select) since a variety of guests will be dancing.  This also allows you to dance close enough to carry on a quick conversation with the guest to thank them for coming and for their support.

To ensure that you do not get "stuck" dancing with a guest who "doesn't know when enough is enough"...I will signal guests when it is time to change partners.

There are several methods of collecting the cash donated.  Below is a list of some popular collection methods:
  • Bride and Groom Collect (Stuff in Groom's Pockets and In Bride's Dress or Small Purse that Hangs From Her Arm)
  • Bridesmaid and Groomsmen Collect (I recommend this method...that way you can talk and concentrate on your guest)
  • Hat on the Floor (great way to personalize to the two of you)
  • Boot on the Floor (cute idea for country brides and grooms)
  • Bride Wears An Apron With A Pocket
  • Bride Pins the Cash On Her Dress (kind of gone out-of-style due to a few "pokes" to guests or blood on the bride's dress!)
  • Money Tree (can be purchased at Craft Stores...guests clip cash on the tree before they dance with you)
  • Other (maybe you have a great idea...let me know!)
One note...be sure you have discussed where the cash will be placed after the dance with whomever is collecting it...so that it doesn't get misplaced or taken.
